Google AdSense and Nigerian Bloggers….What’s the deal?

Google_Revenue (1)Good morning beautiful people, I trust you all had a great weekend. What’s on the agenda for today? I have absolutely no idea. As you are all aware, I have been doing some finishing touches on my blog. The latest is my decision to jump into the Google AdSense circle.  Please don’t ask why, because the answer is pretty obvious. The Ranter is trying to keep up with the demands of fashion and social status and we all know it won’t be possible with an empty bank account.

I am hoping no one is going to ask what Google AdSense is, but just to be on the safe side, it is a section of Google involved with advertising. Google AdSense pays you for the number of clicks an advert gets when you showcase it on your blog or website. It is often referred to as Pay Per Click (PPC). I am not a college professor, so my crude explanation would have to do. As you are well aware, this is one of the various ways that bloggers make money. Now the reason why I have decided to approach this topic is because quite a number of Nigerian bloggers have asked me how they can make money blogging. At the time, I hadn’t incorporated Google AdSense on my blog, so I kept trying to encourage them to write e-books and get local companies to advertise on their blogs and so on, but all my effort was getting me nowhere.

A certain friend suggested Google AdSense, but she kept complaining that her request had not been approved. She mentioned that she was still waiting for an answer although six months had passed. Not quite long after our conversation, I got a couple of messages from my Nigerian comrades in the blogging sphere asking me how to get past the hurdle of been approved by Google AdSense. Hmmm…does Google have a grudge against the Nigerians? It is possible, after all the ongoing feud between Nigeria and PayPal is an open secret. I was bothered for a while, and this fueled my decision to apply for Google AdSense. I was itching to see if my request is going to be thrown to the wind. 3days after I sent in my request, I received a shocker in my inbox. My request was approved.

So what was the problem? I eventually concluded that my best bet was to outline all I did. So here is the deal

  • First off, if you have a wordpress.com account, there is no way that you are going to able to incorporate Google AdSense on your blog. They do not allow Google AdSense Ads. Blogger and Tumblr are more lenient.
  • Next, I would advise that you don’t apply for Google AdSense on a fresh blog. Ensure that you have a couple of posts on your blog before you apply. This is because Google will always review your blog once you apply. I discovered that I applied for Google AdSense a year after I had been blogging. I am not saying wait till a year, but give it about 3 – 4 weeks.
  • Be sure to get backlinks to your blog. That way you have social proof. Google loves backlinks. That’s how they can attest to your credibility on the internet.
  • Lastly, I would advise that you get a Gmail account. I have no concrete reason for this, but it worked for me and what is the point of fixing something if it ain’t broken?

That’s all for now folks. Please don’t miss my story telling side too much. It is about to come out in a while. Pending that time, Please lemme know if this information was useful to you. Comments please!

Good for you. I have Adsense but haven’t seen much from it as of this time. I wish the best of luck with it.

Let me also put that Google most times prefer that you have unique contents on your site, not copy and paste. With at least 20 unique contents and following all the other things she mentioned, Google will approve your request in days.
